Abstract
173,491. Kohler, C. Dec. 27, 1920, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Cooling water by direct contact with cooling- media.-The cooling-water of locomotive steamcondensing plant and similar apparatus is caused to fall from elevated perforated pipes f in rigid jets which are cooled by the passage of air between them in direction III due to the motion of the vehicle in direction I. The cooled water falls into a chamber g, and after circulation is pumped or otherwise forced into chambers d, e with which the pipes f communicate. The speed of the jets is chosen so that they retain their rigidity throughout the length of their fall and that no particles of water are carried away by the air currents.
