Milling - screws; milling - cutters. -- Screw-threads are milled by means of a hob 2 which is rotated without relative axial movement at the same angular speed as the work-piece 5 but in the opposite direction. The thread is completely cut in one revolution of the work and hob, and the latter may be divided as shown into a number of different sections 3 so that threads of various pitches and of either hand may be cut at the same time.
