Collapsable metal casks; tampering with, preventing and detecting. - A knock-down three-piece metal shipping barrel for liquids such as food oils, essential oils, olive oil, &c. consists of three sections 1, 2, 3, Figs. 3 and 4, with flanges 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 shaped as shown; in the construction preferred, the flat parts normally abut against each other and the curved parts embrace rubber packing-rings 6 and are compressed into the configuration shown in Fig. 4 by hoops 11 to form liquid-tight joints. The hoops are secured by screws 14, 15, Fig. 7, and may be sealed by wires 18 and seals. The bung is arranged in the middle section 1. For transit when empty the barrel is packed as shown in Fig. 5, the parts being held rigidly together by the hoops 11, and the flanges 4, 7, 9 being arranged to be of such lengths that the sections rest one in the other The upper packing 6, Fig. 5, may be arranged ir the space 17. In a modification the flanges 5, 8 10 may be straight but inclined to the parts 4 7, 9.
