Abstract

171,622. Schwieger, A. Nov. 23, 1920. Vacuum closures.-A T-shaped device 3, Figs. 2 and 6, of tinned sheet metal &c. is disposed in a slot 2 in the rubber washer 1 of a closure so that on rotating the device 3 by placing an implement through the aperture 4, the slot is opened out, air is admitted to the vessel, and the cover can be shaken off. In a modification, Fig. 10, the washer 16 is provided with a spherical or like thickening 17 slotted for the reception of the device 18, and in another form the rubber washer consists of two flat rings placed one upon the other and carrying the device 3 between them.
