Automatic-feed weighers.-In an electricallyactuated automatic weighing-apparatus, the feedshutter is opened and closed by two independent solenoids disposed one on each side of the shutter, and the weigh-pan is tilted to discharge its contents by a third solenoid which is energized simultaneously with the shutter-closing solenoid. After a weighing operation, the rise of the weighbeam G to the position shown in Fig. 1 closes, by means of a spring contact M, the circuit of a solenoid C, Fig. 2, and a double shutter B, B<1> connected to the core of the solenoid is opened so as to feed the material to the weigh-pan E. When the required weight has been delivered the weigh-beam descends, the circuit of the solenoid C is broken, and the circuits are established through solenoids D, K owing to closure of a second spring contact X. The solenoid D closes the shutter B, B<1> and the solenoid K tilts the weigh-pan E by means of a connecting-rod K<2>. The weighed material is discharged down a shoot L the weigh-beam rises, the contacts N, M are opened and closed respectively, and another weighing operation is initiated. After opening the shutter B, B', the current through the solenoid C may be immediately cut off by means of a cut-out switch R operated by tappets on the shutter. To ensure the complete discharge of the weigh-pan, this is temporarily retained in the tilted position by the action of an electromagnet P on an armature O the circuit of the electromagnet being controlled by the weigh-beam. The distance of the weigh-pan from the feed shoot may be adjusted by means of screws S.
