Abstract

Pilot-valve apparatus.-A servo-motor device particularly applicable for operating large flat or D valves or the eccentric track of hydraulic motors or pumps, of the type wherein a rotor body is formed with cylinders having pistons engaging an eccentric track, comprises a differential ram controlled by a slide valve mounted on it and adapted to be moved transversely to it by an inclined guide actuated by hand or automatic means so that the subsequent movement of the ram restores the control valve to its neutral position. The ram e, which is connected at e<2> to the apparatus to be actuated, has a large part e<1> adapted to work through a packing f<1> held in position by a closed cap g, and a smaller part e adapted to work through a packing f held in position by a perforated spigot h' on a detachable member h provided with a stuffing-box k for the ram. The control valve 1 slides in a groove in the ram and is held against a seat r by a spring 5 housed in sockets on the back of the valve and in a member having a face 4 bearing against a detachable cap 6 fitted with a packing 8. The valve seat has ports q, t whereby fluid pressure entering at n may be admitted through a duct p to the large end of the ram or passed to exhaust w through ducts p, s, z. The control valve is actuated by a bridle 9 having an inclined slot equal in length to the travel of the ram and held against a flat on the ram bv the cover 6. In the form shown, the control valve is actuated by a ram d connected to the bridle and adjustably loaded by one or more springs 23, 23a acting through a rod 20 and lever 14 linked to the casing at 18 and provided with an adjustable abutment 16. The linked end of the lever may be spring supported. The ram d may be replaced by any mechanical moving part or by a hand-actuated rod balanced if desired by passing it out at both sides of the casing. The hand-lever may work in a quadrant and be fitted with locking-means, and may be acted on by springs to return it to its initial or to an intermediate position.
