Abstract
170,618. Pouchain, A. May 27, 1920. Electrolytes; electrodes.-The electrolyte in an accumulator having a zinc negative electrode consists of a solution in sulphuric acid of the sulphates of zinc, aluminium, potassium and mercury together with small quantity, not exceeding 4 per cent, of glycerine or other polyvalent alcohol of the fatty series. Other sulphates such as sodium or magnesium sulphate may be added. The sulphates of zinc, aluminium and potassium may be dissolved nearly to saturation in the acid, only a small quantity of mercury sulphate being added.
