Abstract
170,337. London Aluminium Co., Ltd., and Leeder, W. J. June 21, 1920. Hollow-ware; pipes and tubes.-A tubular metal member is joined to a sheet having a flanged hole through which the member passes, by curling the end of the member to envelop the flange and forming a rib in it on the opposite side. A tubular blank 22 is flared at one end by dies, expanded to taper form by a drift inserted in the flared end, bulged at 20, Fig. 4, by end pressure by holders 18, 19 and the end 21 then inserted in a flanged hole 8 in a body 7, Fig. 5. The joint is closed by dies 23, 24 which curl the edge 21 around the flange 8 and flatten the bulge 20, Fig. 6.
