Abstract

169,574. Heydt, J. July 26, 1920. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Washing or cleaning by use of sand and abrading agents.-Apparatus for cleaning beer pipes consists of two U-tubes 2, 3 of glass, the ends 9, 10 of which are connected to the pipes to be cleaned, and a reversing slide 5 moved by a handlever 13. The U-tube 2 is filled with solid cleaning material 20 and the tube 28 of the slide is connected to water under pressure, which enters the U-tube by the orifice 16, and drives the cleaning material through the pipes, the water leaving by the orifice 17 of U-tube 3, port 15 of the slide, and outlet 29. A strainer 19 prevents the cleaning material passing through. The reversing slide is then turned so that the port 14 is over the orifice 17, and port 15 over the orifice 16, and the water sent round the pipes the reverse way.
