Bracelets.-In an expanding bracelet in order to obtain a large degree of expansion, the spring d contained in each inner slotted link a has a floating abutment against the cross-bar c of the outer link b so arranged in relation to the crossbar c as to carry the point of abutment of the spring, when under compression, beyond the cross-bar. The cross-bars c, Figs. 2 and 4, have heads e retained in sliding engagement with the hollow links b by turned-over flanges f, and each abutment for a spring d comprises a flanged thimble j passing through a collet or eye h on the cross-bar. When the bracelet is expanded, the compressed spring d projects the thimble j through the cross-bar, as shown in Fig. 4, against a weak spring l which surrounds the thimble and returns it when the bracelet is unexpanded as shown in Fig. 2. The other end of the spring may be guided by a peg m on the end of the link a. In a modification, Figs. 6 and 8, the ends of each cross-bar turn on rivets g on the links b and are retained by burring the rivets. The thimble is prevented from coming out of the collet h by a strip of metal k passed through two slits in the top of the thimble.
