[Class 43.] An expanding bracelet comprises a divided strap a, b having inserted therein several foldable links connected by spring hinges which for all relative positions of the links tend to restore the links to, or hold them in, the closed or folded position. The spring hinges may have their spring means arranged as the pivots thereof, the pivots comprising the cylindrical portion of a coiled spring g whose shanks project in opposite directions and are inserted in sleeves k on the respective links. As shown in Fig. 1, three foldable links d, e, f may be used, the length of the central link d being substantially equal to the added lengths of the side links e, f. The links may be arranged on the inner side of the strap, or on the outer side, in which case the central link, which is permanently exposed, may be decorated in conformity with the pattern on the strap parts. Modifications are also described in which two foldable links, one slightly larger than the other, or three foldable links of substantially equal lengths are provided. In a further modification two systems of foldable links are provided, each system comprising two foldable links of substantially equal lengths ; one link of each system is connected to one end of the strap and the other to a watch holder. The strap may be made of leather, cloth, metal, wire fabric, wire netting &c., and may be made of a single piece of material or of pieces joined together, for example, in the form of a chain.
