Abstract

168,149. Sandblom, G. E. May 25, 1920. Cutter heads. - In a rotary scraper for removing paint &c., each single scraper, composed of stiff but flexible material, comprises an operative end portion 18 substantially parallel to the axis of rotation of the tool and an intermediate portion 6 substantially perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The drawing shows a brush; for a scraper the bristles or tines 6 would be of greater width. A portion of each scraper forms a helical coil 7 wound about a shaft 3 carried by a base-plate 1, the rear end of the coil being inserted in a hole in the base-plate. Rotation is effected by a prime mover which rotates a driving shaft 14 connected to the baseplate, the tool being held by a handle 16 rotatably mounted on bearings provided on the shaft 14. The scrapers may be arranged on a number of shafts carried by the base-plate 1.
