Abstract
168,116. Haywood, T. A. E. May 14, 1920. Belts.-A rubber or like driving-belt for motorvehicles, dynamos, &c. having embedded in it a. metal chain reinforcement capable of temporary elongation due to a curved formation of portions of the links when under high strains, is formed on its underside below the fulcrum pins 7 of the chain with inverted V-shaped notches 2 extending ccmpletely across the belt and upwards to a point approximately half-way through the belt, in order to permit the belt to conform freely to pulleys of small diameter. Small grooves 3 may be formed on the upper surface of the belt. Recesses 4, 4<a> are provided in the sides of the belt opposite each pin 7 to facilitate removal of the pins. The resilient chain is preferably of the kind described in Specification 168,289.
