Drilling-machines.-In a radial-arm drilling- machine of the type in which the outer end of the arm w is supported by a stay g, the locking of the radial arm to the pillar and of the stay to the machine base or table are simultaneously effected by means of a single lever m which may also be arranged to actuate the saddle-locking mechanism. A shaft a rotated by a hand-lever m and having a limited endlong movement is connected through helical gearing b, c to vertical shafts e, d actuating the stay and arm-locking devices respectively. In order to effect the locking of the saddle, the lever m, Fig. 3. may be forked, one arm of the fork being connected to a lever o, splined on the shaft a and the other to a lever n on a shaft p carrying a cam q actuating the gripping-member s. In a modification, the lever m carries a helical wheel having limited endlong movement and engaging helical wheels respectively connected to the saddle-locking device and to the shaft a.
