Abstract

166,369. Auster, A. C. April 22, 1920. Wind-screens.-Relates to wind-screens for motor and like vehicles of the type in which a screen 1 for the occupants of the rear seat is mounted upon two telescopic arms which are pivoted at the same or at separate points to the back of the front seat 3 so as to be adjustable to and from the occupants. In order to prevent relative rotation between the sliding members 4, 5 of the telescopic arms when the screen is pushed into its forward position and the arms become aligned, such rotation causing the screen to fall downwardly, the members 4, 5 are made of a square, triangular, diamonc., or similar flat sided cross-sections. In the construction shown, the members 4, 5 are of square section, the inner member 4 being tubular and externally ribbed at 6. The screen 1, when pushed forward, can be turned downwards about the supporting-hinges 8. Modifications are described in which the arms pivot about the same point and are made in two sections, the additional section being, if desired, also telescopic.
