Abstract
165,565. Sachot, J. R. April 13, 1920. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Heating dies.-In presses for moulding blocks of refractory &c. material, in which the surfaces of the press in contact with the material are heated by electric resistance coils to prevent adherence, the bobbins carrying the coils are mounted on spring supports to facilitate their replacement. In the form shown in Fig. 1, as applied to a Whittaker press such as is described in Specification 3481/84, the surfaces C, D of the pistons A, B enclose electric heating-coils 6, 7 thermally insulated, for example by asbestos 17, on all sides except those facing the surfaces C, D. The coils are on bobbins, Fig. 3, held in place by yoke-shaped spring plates 10 secured to a rod 9 passing axially through the bobbin. The current is supplied through insulated wires 13 connected to collars 15, a switch, fuses, and a rheostat being included in the circuit.
