Wheels.-A wheel a for polishing knives &c. has an annular face consisting of a number of pieces c of leather, felt, &c. set edgeways in one or more rings between concentric flanges b; concentric rings or bands d are passed through holes in the pieces c and are secured by wire clips e, the ends of which are passed through the wheel and turned over on its other side. The pieces c may be slit as shown at g; or narrower pieces may be used in concentric rings as shown at the righthand side of Fig. 1. Superimposed rings may be used, as shown in Fig. 3. One of the interior layers may be replaced by a ring of other material, such as india-rubber.
