Squirting. - Tubular brass blanks, Fig. 3, for drawing are made from a. high-grade cast brass cylinder of the same diameter by cleaning, placing] in a matrix, and pressing by a punch to get the required length. The matrix and punch have cylindrical faces 4, 10 and curved bases 5, 11 with conical centres 7, 12. Part of the base of the matrix may comprise a plunger 8 used for ejection, and the matrix may move while the punch remains fixed. In a modification, the matrix has a piston movable relatively to the matrix and punch, which have no motion relatively to one another.
