Abstract

162,444. Timpany, J. C. Feb. 18, 1920. Washing-machines with swinging beaters in stationary receptacles ; wringers, driving-gear for. -In a combined washing-machine and wringer, the drive from the main spindle 1 to the respective machines is through a pinion 15 and an idle pinion 16, which is carried by a frame pivoted on the spindle 1 and rocked by a hand-lever 9 so as to connect the pinion 15 with either of the gearwheels 17, 18 to drive the washing-machine 12 or wringer 25. The spindle 1 is journaled in a bracket supported from the double cross stay 6. The washing-machine may be of the kind in which an oscillating rubber 12 and a swinging bumper 13 are supported within a tank 11 and are so articulated as to be actuated by the crank 14 that oscillates the rubber.
