Abstract

162,262. Cucurny, L. April 23, 1920, [Convention date]. Feeding; moulds; processes.-Relates to apparatus for moulding plates, slabs and like articles of ceramic ware of the type involving an elasticlined mould into which the material is introduced in powdered form, and comprises a frame 3 surmounting the mould 1 and closed at its underside by an elastic diaphragm 4, such frame being adapted to contain the quantity of powdered material 5 requisite to form an article. After filling the frame, pressure is applied by a plunger 2 which forces the material and diaphragm into the mould cavity. Upon the withdrawal of the plunger the diaphragm 4 assists in the delivery of the moulded article. A spring valve 6 is provided to permit air to escape from beneath the diaphragm. The frame 3 is preferably removably connected to the mould 1 so that a number of frames may be employed with a single mould. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that plates, slabs, and other articles of ceramic ware are formed by introducing the material in the form of moist powder into a mould and subjecting it to high pressure. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
