Abstract

162,098. Bradley, B. Jan. 28, 1920. Reinforced-concrete pipes. - Rein. forced-concrete members such as pipes, provided with a circumferential reinforcement of helically-wound wire, have the adjacent coils of this reinforcement 2 secured at the desired distance apart by spacing-members 1 in the form of wire helices of relatively small diameter. The coils 1, 2 are retained in engagement by longitudinal rods 3 passed through the helices 1. In manufacture, helices 1 are secured to a drum on which the coil 2 is then wound. Rods 3 are then inserted. Additional coils 2 secured in like manner may be , provided until the desired amount of wire has been wound on the drum. The reinforcement is then covered with concrete 4.
