Abstract
160,959. Coyne, A. E. Jan. 7, 1920. Addition to 142,647. Horns, construction of; sound magnifying and directing appliances.-Comprises modifications in the arrangements for assembling the motor-horn described in the parent Specification. The central tube C is fixed to spiders D bearing the tube B, and to a socket G. In assembling the horn, the unit thus formed is inserted within the outer horn K into the hemispherical cap H which can be attached to the vehicle by a clip N. The reed-carrier, having a conical part F<1>, is slipped into the socket G followed by a spiral spring F<2>, and the whole is clamped together by screwing in the member I carrying the bulb J. A dust protector, comprising a spider and ring K with gauze screen K<1>, is attached by a screw L to a socket M at the end of the tube B. In modifications, the socket M is replaced by a recess formed in a cap on the end of the tube B; an ordinary bracket is substituted for the clip N; the socket G, instead of being screwed outside the member I, is screwed inside the member J<1>; and in order to secure the bulb J to the member I, the bulb is passed over a ring of wire soldered round the member.
