Wrenches; wrenchjaw faces. - An adjustable wrench comprises two longitudinal members which cross e a c h other and have one or two pairs of ends serving as wrench jaws, and is provided with means for adjusting the members angularly and laterally relatively to one another, such means being capable of operation independently of each other. As shown in Fig. I, one pair of jaws 4, 6 is formed with cut-away parts 11, 12, and the other jaws 9, 10, are plain, the jaw members 1, 2 being formed with bent parts 7, 8 at the point of crossing and each pair of jaws being fitted with a screw 13, or 14, and a corresponding nut 15, 16 to adjust the sizes of the jaws. The jaws are pressed outwards by springs 18 arranged on the screws and in recesses in the jaw members as shown. The screws are preferably secured by pins, or rivets, to the jaw members In operation, when one set of jaw members, for example, 4, 6 is being adjusted to a nut, &c., the nut 15 is unscrewed while the adjustment is being effected by the nut 16, and after the adjustment is effected, the nut 15 is screwed up to maintain the jaws securely in their adjusted position. In a modification, Fig. IV, each atrip is formed of two similar parts 1, 1<a>, 2, 2<a>, the parts 1, 1<a> being bent outwards and the parts 2, 2<a> inwards at the positions of crossing, the extent of the bending being reduced in this construction. Hardened jaw pieces as 19, 20 are secured to the ends of the parts 1, 1<a>, 2, 2<a>.
