Abstract
158,295. Embrey, H. P., Embrey, L., and Embrey, H. G. H. July 9, 1920. Rolling-machines.-In dough-moulding machines of the type comprising a helical fence and a drum or cone arranged one within the other and adapted for relative rotation, the fence is provided with a spirally stepped kneading surface forming with the adjacent surface of the drum &c. a V-shaped trough. As shown, the helical fence is build up of wooden or other sections 1 superimposed as shown in Fig. 1 and secured by screws &c. The sections are also formed with cylindrical surfaces 2 to engage a tube 4 to which they are secured, such tube being provided with a feed-opening 6 at the lower end. The sections may be of equal or of unequal thickness so as to obtain a surface of uniform or non-uniform thickness. A drum 7 enclosing the helical fence is supported at the upper end by rollers 19 and is driven through a pinion 16 and bevel-wheel 12, the tube 4 being driven in the opposite direction through the bevel-wheel 14. The pieces of dough are fed into the tube 4 passing through the opening 6 to the helical surface by which they are worked into a ball against the inner surface of the drum 7.
