Brakes, arrangement and disposition of.-Consists in providing each of the chain-driving sprockets of an endless-track gun carriage with a special form of internal expanding brake to check recoil movement of the carriage. The sprocket 16 carries a drum 26, the interior of which is engaged by brake shoes 31 radially movable on a support 27, which is freely mounted on an extension 29 of the driving-shaft 19 and connected to the truck frame by a rod 30. The brake shoes carry right and left handed screws .32, which engage with sleeves 33 rotatable through spiral gearing 35, 34 from a hand-wheel 37. The hand-wheel is provided with keyhole slots engaging over spring pins 38 so as to be readily removable. Specification 128,972 is referred to.
