Description
($4) SINGLE CYLINDER CIRCULAR KNITTING MACHINE FOR
MANUFACTURING HOSIERY GOODS AND SIMILAR GOODS (71) We, ELITEX, KONCERN TEXTIL
NIHO STROJIRENSTVI, of Liberec, Czechoslovakia, a corporate body organised and existing under the laws of Czechoslovakia, do hereby declare the invention, for which we pray that a patent may be granted to us, and the method by which it is to be performed, to be particularly described in and by the following statement: The present invention relates to a single cylinder circular knitting machine for the manufacture of hosiery and similar goods, which is provided with means for plating reciprocatory knitted heels or toes of hosiery goods.
Single cylinder circular knitting machines for manuacturing plated goods are known, in which also plating of heels or toes upon reciprocatory operation of the machine is performed. In order to make it possible to introduce the plated yarn through a guide, which is at a longer distance from the needles than a plating yarn guide, it is necessary to displace in the space of the bridge in the latch guide a certain part of the bridge, or the latch guide for the purpose of making possible the introduction of plated yarn.
This displacement and returning of a part of the bridge is performed by a radial motion via a mechanical transmission by a pulse from the control drum of the machine.
This plating device is rather complicated and requires much space, particularly at the point of arranging guides, :where it- is necessary to design a special device for controlling the guides relative to the displaceable part of the bridge. Further, one path an the control drum is necessary for the purpose of controlling, whereby the number of operation steps of the machine is enhanced, this putting high requirements to the size of the control drum and thus also the design of the machine frame.
The purpose of the present invention consists in mitigating the above - disadvantages, and to provide, in a single cylinder circular knitting machine, means for reciprocatory plating which has little space requirements.
According to the present invention there is provided a single cylinder circular knit ting machine for manufacturing hosiery goods and similar goods, wherein at a feed a latch guide is formed in its lower part as a bridge the upper of the latch guide is interrupted by a vertical inclined groove which opens from above, and the upper part of the latch guide is separated from the bridge by a horizontal opening into which the vertical inclined groove opens from below, a yarn guide is provided with two tubes arranged behind each other for plated and plating yarn and a blocking member in the form of a mock yarn guide is provided beside the yarn guide proper and is movable into and out of a position where it engages the vertical inclined groove.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be described, by way af example, with reference to the accompanying draw ings, in which: Fig. 1 is a front view of the latch guide bridge together with the representation of the yarn guide for plated and plating yarn and the blocking member in their lower positions and the needle and yarn courses upon reciprocatory operation;
Fig, 2 is the same as shown in Fig. 1 but in plan view without the needles and ylarns; and
Fig. 3 is the same as shown in Fig. 1 but in axonometric view without the blocking member.
A single cylinder circular knitting machine is provided with a not represented needle cylinder, in which are mounted knitting needles 1 which are controlled by a not represented cam system. For the purpose of controlling needles 1, -a latch guide 2 surrounds to the needle cylinder, in which are provided at the feeds bridges for introduc- ing yarn. For the purpose of explaining the present invention, the arrangement of latch guide 2 is shown in Figs. 1, 2 and -3 in the main feed with bridge 3, where laying d yarns is performed during the reciprocatory operation of the needle cylinder. For the purpose of laying plated yarn P1 and plating yarn P2, a guide 4 is arranged there, plated
yarn P1 being laid by tube 41 and plating
yarn P2 by tube 42.Tube 41 is arranged more apart from the needles 1 and its lower
end is higher than the lower end of tube 42,
which is situated nearer to needles 1. Beside guide 4 is provided a blocking member
5 in the form of a mock yarn guide, the
operative end of which engages in its lower position a vertical inclined groove 21 in the latch guide 2 and closes it in such a manner
as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. Further, a horizontal opening 22 is provided in latch guide 2 for the passage of introduced plated yarn Pt, said vertical inclined groove 21 opening
into said opening 22. In the upper part of latch guide 2 are made shaped grooves 23
for the tubes of further, not represented
guides of this feed and in the lower part
below horizontal opening 22 the bridge 3
as already mentioned.
For the purpose of reciprocatory knitting
of the heel or toe of a hosiery knitwork, needles 1 are distributed into operative and inoperative needles the latter of which pass at an elevated position. Guide 4 is displaced downwards into the lower operative position
during movement of the needles 1 in the
direction S, plated yarn P1 being lowered through the vertical inclined groove 21 and
into horizontal opening 22, whereupon it is
supported against the left edge of bridge 3
while being laid into needles 1, as can be
seen from Figs. 1 and 3. Plating yarn P2 is
also introduced in the usual manner into
needles 1, and is supported also against the
left edge of bridge 3.After laying plated
yarn P1 and plating yarn P2 into needles
1, the blocking member 5 is also lowered
into the lower position and closes the ver
tical inclined groove 21.
The blocking member 5 has the purpose
not to permit upon reciprocatory operation
a possible closing of the latches of the in
operative needles (not represented), which
pass - at an elevated position, their latches
otherwise being apt to be closed by the
edge of vertical inclined groove 21, or pos
sibly even broken during movement of the
needles in the direction opposite to the
direction 5
Plated yarn P1 and plating yarn P2 are
drawn by needles 1, and upon transition into
the direction of movement opposite to
direction S the entrained yarns P1 and P2
move to the right side of bridge 3 again into
the required sequence of grouping, as shown
in Figs. 1 and 3, the plated yarn P1 moving
across the horizontal opening 22 under
the tube 42.In that manner, laying of both
plated yarn P1 and plating yarn P2 is per fonned upon reciprocatory knitting, and in
the dead centre, i.e. when needles 1 do not
draw yarns P1 and P2, said yarns are drawn
back by not represented tension trappers.
Upon finishing reciprocatory knitting, after the needle cylinder resumes rotary motion in the direction S, locking guide 5 is again lifted and plated yarn P1 is taken out from needles 1 through the vertical inclined groove 21, and both yarns are entrapped and cut by a known, not represented device on the dial.
In the case of a machine in which - reciprocatory knitting is performed in two feeds, the same plating means are located also in the second feed.
The main advantage of the present invention - consists in that by forming a vertical inclined groove and a horizontal opening by using a blocking member in the form of a mock yarn guide, the laying of plated ándvplating yarn guide, the laying of knitting machine is secured in a simple and reliable manner.
