Abstract

156,900. Southorne, W. H., and Forbes, S. L. Oct. 13, 1919. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Stocks and dies.-A die stock of the type have ing a circular recess which is flanged to form a bed for the die may receive either the die or an adjustable tap wrench attachment consisting of a pair of segmental members provided in their flat sides with co-operating V-shaped notches and ribs, and one part having guide pins over which the other part slides. The centre of a die stock 1 is formed with a circular recess providing a bed 3 for receiving either a split die or an adjustable tapwrench attachment, Fig. 3. The die or the fixed jaw 9 of the wrench is fixed in the stock by a screw passing either through a hole 8 or in a modification through a screwed boss on the stock. The die is placed in position with its split side opposite an expanding screw 5, and is contracted by screws 7. When the wrench attachment is in position the movable jaw 10 is adjusted by the screw 5 along guide rods 12 on the fixed jaw 9. Lugs 15 on the jaws pass through slots 16 in the bed to ensure a positive drive.
