Abstract

Roofs.-Roof trusses for halls and like buildings consist of end trussed portions designed for the usual span together with intermediate portions for any other span, the latter portion being designed and made for the particular span under construction. Fig. 1 shows a truss with the truss end portions 1 connected together at the ridge 2 and also by a tie-rod 3. Fig. 2 shows a roof truss for a particular span, the end portions 1 being provided with and connected to an intermediate portion 4. Figs. 3 and 4 show connecting plates, the upper members 5 of the intermediate portion 4 being bolted or riveted to the plate, Fig. 3, by means of holes 11 and the vertical members bv means of holes 10, while the lower members 6 of the intermediate portion are connected to the plate 8, Fig. 4, by means of holes 9. In cases where no intermediate portion is required, the part of the plate, Fig. 3, to the right of the line 12 is cut away.
