Abstract

A weft regulator (20) for a weaving machine has a sensing element (28) which is moved in time with the slay swinging to and fro and is pushed between the weft thread and fabric (16) through the plane defined by the closed shed and is moved out of this plane and which is pivotable out of a position of rest up against the weft beating-up edge. In its position of rest, the sensing element bears against a feeler member (32) under the effect of a prestress (29), and during a time segment around the weft beating-up moment a detector device (34) generates a respective signal which differs according to whether the sensing element bears or does not bear against the feeler member. The reed (11) possesses, in the region moving towards the sensing element, a place (35) which is free of reed teeth (12). <IMAGE>
