Abstract

The workpiece surfaces are first treated with a mineral oil-based phosphating agent which contains an acidic product formed by polyphosphoric acid with an aliphatic alcohol as well as water and solubiliser, in a homogeneous phase. In this way, a stable iron phosphate layer is formed. This is followed by an after treatment with a mineral-oil based agent which has a basic reaction and contains a selected special combination of defined constituents. The procedure is characterised in that advantageous corrosion protection results are obtained and the procedure can easily be monitored in operating practice.
