Abstract

Seals. - An ear-mark for cattle comprises a hollow part with sharp hard-metal claws and a bowl-shaped solid part carrying a striker of softer material than the claws, so that these claws bite into the surface of the striker when the latter is passed within the hollow parts. The hollow part may be formed of two hemispherical portions and may contain a hemispherical body, capable of rotation with it and carrying the claws. In the form shown, the striker B' of the solid part B is engaged by claws C held in radial cavities in the hemisphere E and pressed against the striker by spring tongues D' on a plate D. The claws C are made of steel and the striker B<1> and part B of aluminium. The part E is inaccessibly and rotatably mounted within a hollow body A comprising two hemispheres connected together.
