Abstract

1537254 Making pipe supports PIPE SUPPORTS Ltd 29 Sept 1976 [15 Aug 1975] 34001/75 Heading B3A [Also in Division F2] A pipe support comprises a generally tubular body 10, a coil spring 18 engaging an abutment 17 at the lower end of the body, a piston 20 engaging the upper end of the coil spring 18, and a rod 21 for connection through a turnbuckle 22 to the pipe, the pipe support being characterized in that the body 10 is substantially polygonal in cross-sections perpendicular to its longitudinal axis. As illustrated, the body 10 comprises two parts 13, each formed by a bending operation, connected by a top plate 11 and the abutment 17. Keys 32 may be used to lock the piston 20 relative to the body 10 during acid cleaning and hydraulic testing of the supported pipe. A plate 38 co-operable with an adjustable nut 27 may be used to place the pipe support in its cold setting position. In a modification of the illustrated pipe support, the single coil spring 18 may be replaced by a pair of coil springs arranged either one within another or in end-to-end relationship.
