Abstract

1537155 Tying articles INTERNATIONAL PACKAGING CORP 4 Feb 1976 [21 July 1975] 04381/76 Heading B8C In apparatus for tying bag necks or bundles with tie material securably twisting, the length of the tie material fed is adjustable. The tie material is fed by serrated rollers, 22, 23 from a spool, which is braked except when the tie material is being pulled, to shoots 32RC, (LC) on scissors 32R and (L) which feed the material around the bag neck or bundle. The roller 22 has one or two grooves to accommodate a reinforcing wire or wires in the material. The roller is mounted on a pivoted arm 26 for replacement. A knife 26 severs a length of the material before the scissors move. The rollers 22, 23, upstream and downstream material guides 20, 21, 24, 25, roller driving motor RDM and the knife 26 are mounted on a plate AP which is adjustable towards and away from the scissors. The length of time the motor RDM is driven is controlled by adjustable timing means. As a bell crank 35 moves the scissors towards a twister RT, pins 32 RP, (32LP) on the scissor arms move along cam tracks causing the scissors to open and close about an article in a throat T. The central part of the length is initially held back by the fork (41) on an arm 37 which is then cammed upwardly to release it. The operation of the knife, scissors and twister is controlled by a cam plate 31 which is rotated for one revolution when an article actuates a switch arm MT in the throat T. There is adjustable end plate TC in the throat.
