Abstract

1,206,763. Securing bags. R. CAMMILLI, and R. GIANNELLI. 3 Oct., 1967 [3 Oct., 1966], No. 45074/67. Heading B8C. In securing the necks of bags, thread 3 is drawn by rollers 23, 31 (roller 23 being driven) from a reel in receptacle 1a and is fed via guides and tensioning means past a severing device 36, 37 to a pair of jaws 40a, each with an aperture therein and positioned adjacent a rotary thread twisting device 42 and relative movable thereto. A folded bag neck is inserted into slot 25 to displace an arm 26 (Fig. 2, not shown) and through a link mechanism operates the starting switch of electric motor (18). This operates drive mechanism to rotate the feed rolls 23, 31 to feed a predetermined length of thread forward, then operate severing means 36, 37 to cut off the length 3a, then move the jaws 40a forward and into contact with horns 41 so as to wrap the thread around the bag neck and also to bring it into engagement with the twisting member 42 which is then rotated to twist the ends of the wire together.
