Abstract
1536958 Load carrying vehicle body B BUNGER 1 Oct 1976 [2 Oct 1975] 40905/76 Heading B7B A discharge closure formed by or including an end or side wall of the body is upwardly and outwardly inclined and is pivoted to the remainder of the body in such a way that its own weight tends to keep it closed. As illustrated in Fig. 5, the body has a rear tipping axis 5, and the rear end wall is connected by arms 20 to inboard hinge points 3. In the alternative construction illustrated in Fig. 3 (which shows an end view of the body), the body is divided diagonally into two. For unloading purposes, the upper part, including side wall 2<1>, is upwardly pivoted about an axis located at the top of the diagonal. Thereafter, the then open body is tipped about an axis at the lower end of the diagonal. In a further construction, Fig. 4 (not shown), a side wall is connected by arms to an inboard pivot point. The arrangement increases the tendency of the closure to remain closed since the load exerts a downward component of force on the closure.
