Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent blocking of rain water and the like by a gas stay, by shifting down slightly the supporting point of the gas stay on a car body from the center axis of the gas stay. CONSTITUTION:A back door 11 is hinged at the upper part to the rear side of the car body by a hinge supporting point (c) and a drip 13 is formed around the edge of the back door opening of a rear fender pannel 12 that composes the outer cover of the body. A gas stay 18 comprises a cylinder tube 18a having compressed gas enclosed and a piston rod 18b inserted slidable. The piston rod 18b is pressed by the enclosed gas. At the base of the cylinder tube 18a and at the tip of the piston rod 18b, fitting blackets 19, 20 are fixed to which stay fitting blackets 21, 22 are pivoted by pins a, b. The pin a is positioned off and below the center line A of the gas stay by the distance alpha.
