Abstract

1,146,996. Refuse bins. EXPANDED METAL CO. Ltd. 4 March, 1968 [9 March, 1967], No. 11198/67. Heading A4A. A refuse bin comprises a cage of metal mesh at the top of which is a mounting ring over the top of which is folded back the top of a disposable bag which is placed within the cage, and a door hinged to the cake at one edge and having a retaining piece hinged to the upper edge of the door section and arranged, when the door section is closed, to be swung downwards to embrace the mounting ring at the side remote from the door section both to clamp at least part of the upper edge of a bag against the mounting ring and to hold the door section closed. The retaining piece may be a part ring, the ends of which are pivoted to the ends of the upper edge of the door section so that the retaining piece, together with the upper edge of the door section forms a complete ring encircling the mounting ring when the door is closed, the door preferably being hinged about a horizontal axis along the lower edge of the cage.
