Abstract

1536884 Gas burners W J RUDY 29 March 1977 [30 March 1976] 12810/76 Heading F4T A burner comprises a manifold 10 for connection to a gas supply and containing a vortex generator 16 which imparts a swirling motion to the gas, and a plurality of nozzles 14 connected to the manifold, each having an internal surface which tapers down to an orifice 28 and has helical projections which impart a further swirling motion to the gas, in the same direction as that produced by the vortex generator 16. The helical projections may be formed on a plastics insert 25 or on the (metal) body 27 of the nozzle. The vortex generator 16 is a cylindrical plastics member having internal angled vanes 18. The Specification also claims a kit of parts comprising the vortex generator 16 and a plurality of nozzles 14.
