Abstract

153,636. Allkin, H. W., and Davies, C. July 22, 1919. Handle-bars.-In handle-bars for motor and other cycles, of the kind embodying in their construction one or more springs adapted to absorb vibration, the springs consist of superimposed strips of steel or other material, one or more of the strips being transversely waved or corrugated between their ends and the other strip or strips being plain. As shown in Fig. 2, such a spring b, consisting of a central plain strip and upper and lower corrugated strips, is used to connect two parts a of the handle-bar, the strips being secured at their ends by screws e to lugs or plugs d. The strips may, however, be brazed, welded, or otherwise secured in solid or, as shown, divided or split plugs. The spring may also be used to control the hinged hand-grip end of a handle-bar.
