Abstract

1535477 Treatment of heavy hydrocarbon charge stock MOBIL OIL CORP 9 March 1977 [29 March 1976] 09901/77 Heading C5E Heavy hydrocarbon charge stock is treated to remove nickel and sulphur by (a) admixing the stock with a hydrogen-rich stream, (b) reacting the mixture in a reaction zone containing a desulphurization catalyst, (c) injecting water into the reaction zone at a water to hydrogen molar ratio from 0À05 to 0À5, (d) separating a light gas stream which contains H 2 , H 2 O, H 2 S and light hydrocarbons from the effluent of the reaction zone, (e) separating the H 2 O from the light gas stream, (f) recycling the separated H 2 O to step (c), (g) separating the H 2 S from the dry light gas stream, (h) recycling the remaining hydrogen-rich stream to step (a) and (i) recovering a substantially nickel and sulphur free product from the effluent of the reaction zone.
