1534551 Pyrolytic carbon electrode ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO Ltd 18 Aug 1977 [21 Oct 1976] 43823/76 Heading C1A [Also in Division H1] An apertured electrode of pyrolytic carbon is formed in the shape of a hollow truncated cone having a uniform wall thickness over the apertured region 1. Preferably the taper is uniform at an angle down to 1 degree, the uniform wall thickness is achieved by grinding the outer surface while the cone is mounted on a close-fitting similarly shaped rotatable mandrel and the apertures 4 are formed through a mast using a shot abrasion process. The conical shape of the electrode and the mandrel permits easier manufacture than for conventional cylindrically-shaped electrodes.
