Abstract

1456462 Blasting ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO Ltd 11 April 1975 [29 June 1974] 28998/74 Heading B3D [Also in Division C1] A perforate article is prepared from a laminar blank of pyrolytic graphite by a process which includes the steps of machining or abrading selected locations of the blank to produce perforations therein, and thereafter depositing a layer of pyrolytic graphite thereon. The abrasion process is preferably one employing shot abrasion techniques, and is used, for example, to prepare the perforate mesh electrodes (see Fig. 1). The thickness of the layer of secondarily deposited graphite is preferably less than that of the laminar blank, and may be comparable to the size of the particles used in the abrasion process.
