Abstract

1534117 Controlling electro-plating ED RODE KG 19 July 1977 30352/77 Heading C7B Cathode current density is regulated in electroplating baths by determining an auxiliary function F representing the interdependence between the plating voltage U and the plating current I, with the optimum current density J o as a parameter, by calculation and/or measurement, and, beginning from a freely selected initial value U, or I, setting the desired plating current I A or plating voltage U A , in steps by an iterative process, by setting intermediate values of U or I determined from the function F, to at least an approximation which can be determined beforehand. Preferably the function F is fed into a master computer which controls the power-supply unit in the form U=f (I) Jo or I=f* (U) Jo , and by using the function F determines the requisite intermediate value from each previous value for U or I, and sets it on the power-supply unit until UA and IA is reached.
