1352443 Control of electrode clearance SHOWA DENKO K K 21 July 1971 [ 25 July 1970] 34099/71 Heading C7B A method for controlling the clearance between the anodes and the mercury cathode in an alkali metal chloride cell comprises arranging in parallel a plurality of bus-bars having anodes connected thereto, lifting the anodes when the current passing through the bus-bars exceeds a certain value and lowering the anodes when the cell voltage is higher than a certain value. The current and voltage comparison may be made using an electronic computer.
