Abstract

1534070 Stabilized macrolide antibiotics MEIJI SEIKA KAISHA Ltd 8 April 1976 [8 April 1975] 14234/76 Heading A5B A stable composition comprising an amorphous solid containing a macrolide antibiotic and at least one cellulose polymer is prepared by spray drying a solution in an organic solvent of only a macrolide antibiotic and at least one cellulose polymer such as ethyl cellulose, hydroxy propyl cellulose, hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose, and hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose phthalate. The antibiotic may be midecamycin, kitasamycin, josamycin. erythromycin, spiramycin, malidemycin and derivatives thereof such as 9-acetyl-3"-acetylmidecamycin, acetylkitasamycin, josamycin propionate, erythromycin stearate, ethylsuccinate or lactobionate. The solvent may be benzene, dichloromethane, 1, 1, 1-trichloroethane or chloroform.
