Abstract

1525120 Topical antibiotics NELSON RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO 11 Dec 1975 [19 Dec 1974 (3) 7 July 1975] 50757/75 Heading A5B Topical antimicrobial compositions comprise 0.1 to 10% by weight of an antimicrobial agent selected from griseofulvin and erythromycin or lincomycin antibiotics together with 5 to 99.9% by weight of 2-pyrrolidone or an N-alkyl (especially methyl)-2-pyrrolidone. The antibiotic may be lincomycin, mirincamycin, clindamycin, N-demethyl, clindamycin or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, erythromycin and erythromycinethyl carbonate, -stearate, -estalate, -gluceptate, propionate, -ethylsuccinate and -lactobionate. The compositions may be in the form of creams, lotions, sprays or solutions.
