Pharmaceutical compositions comprise a carrier and a lincomycin derivative of the formula: wherein X is hydroxy, chlorine or bromine, R 1 and R 2 may each be C 1-8 alkyl, C 3-8 cycloalkyl or C 7-12 aralkyl and R 2 may also be H, or a salt thereof. They may be in conventional forms for oral, rectal, parenteral and topical administration which may comprise additional active ingredients such as sulpha drugs, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory steroids, analgesics and antihistamines, typical examples of all of which are specified.
