Abstract
1532484 Clamp B GATERMANN ING- ENIEURBURO GmbH 8 April 1976 [10 April 1975 26 Nov 1975] 14427/76 Heading E2B [Also in Division F2] A longitudinally movable rod or shaft is braked by an eccentric rotatable by fluidpressure to apply transverse clamping forces. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the eccentric 8 acts on a reciprocable piston rod 1 between two plain bearings 4, 5 and is rotatable in opposite senses by fluid actuated piston rods 19, 20, the former applying the brake and the latter restoring the unbraked condition defined by. an adjustable stop 24. Alternatively, Fig. 4, the eccentric 32 may be rotated by a hollow piston 26 which receives the end of a lever 33 secured to the eccentric end is reciprocable by air admitted through inlet 41 against the bias of an adjustable spring 37. The spring may apply, and the air release the brake or vice versa and the spring may have a non-progressive charcteristic (Fig. 7 not shown). In a further embodiment (Fig. 3 not shown) spring 37 is replaced by a further air inlet.
