Abstract
1531836 Linkwork; toggles L SCHULER GmbH 18 Nov 1976 [10 July 1976] 48115/76 Heading F2K [Also in Divisions B3 and B5] In a toggle joint drive for the ram 6 of a highspeed coin minting press the various lengths and dispositions of the toggle-joint levers 2, 4, connecting-rod 8 and rotary crank 9 are selected to provide almost complete equality of the two ram strokes during each rotation of the driving crank 9, i.e. in respect of the time available per stroke and in respect of the length of the strokes. As shown, the toggle links 2, 4 are jointly hinged to the outer end of the connecting rod 8 the other end of which is connected to the rotary driving crank 9. The toggle link 2 is hinged at 1 to the press frame whilst the toggle link 4 is hinged at 5 to the press ram 6 slidably supported in guides 7 of the press frame. In the straight-line (T.D.C.) position of the links 2, 4 an arc of a circle 11 drawn with the length of the connecting rod 8 about the connection joint 3 intersects a circle 12 drawn with the radius of the crank 9 about the axis of rotation 10 of the crank 9 at two points, the straight line 13 connecting which is a diameter of the circle 12, i.e. extends through the axis of rotation 10. In the upper angular position of the links 2, 4 an arc of a circle 14 drawn with the length of the connecting rod 8 about the connection joint 3 is tangentially in contact with the circle 12 from above, while in the bottom angular end position of the levers 2, 4 an arc of a circle 15 drawn with the length of the connecting rod 8 about the connection joint 3 is tangentially in contact with the circle 12 from below.
