Abstract

Bodkins.-A length of wire is doubled on itself to form spring arms a, the sharpened ends of which are bent into hooks b protected by guards c pivoted at d to the arms. In use, the guards are turned back, the spring arms pressed together, and all hooks engaged with the sides of the ribbon or other material to be threaded, the guards being then closed to prevent the points of the hooks from catching in the fabric through which the ribbon is drawn. The spring arms stretch the ribbon laterally to prevent its becoming creased or twisted.
